The Panhandle Innovations and Investment social enterprise fund has awarded a $50,000 grant to Buckboard Therapeutic Riding Academy. The grant serves as a cash infusion for construction for the non-profit to expand their mission to provide year-round therapeutic riding opportunities to special needs individuals. Buckboard has been around for 21 years but has not had an indoor facility and so has not been able to hold therapy sessions in inclement weather or during the winter. The new location a mile south of Gering and the organization will be looking for volunteers to help with riding activities during their expanded hours. Call 308-783-2319 for more information. The Innovations and Investment fund is a multi-sector collaborative to support opportunities and organizations using a social enterprise model, or a business model supporting a nonprofit mission which makes the organization more sustainable in the long run.
